Dickens' Dream

"The water of the fountain ran, the swift river ran, the day ran into evening, so much life in the city ran into death according to rule, time and tide waited for no man, the rats were sleeping close together in their dark holes again, the Fancy Ball was lighted up at supper, all things ran their course."
 -Charles Dickens
When we were in London we went to the Dickens House Museum to see the 'Dickens' Dream' portrait by R.W. Buss. We were inspired to go because David had a Belgian professor come to his school and give a whole presentation about the painting, but mostly because Matt Damon went to the Dickens House in the movie Hereafter.  Did you see Hereafter? I really liked that movie. It really made me feel better about the afterlife, seriously.

Here is David in front of the portrait.

Oh, we had the best carrot cake and curly whirly chocolate cake from Konditor & Cook in the backyard café.The End.

  1. I LOVE this painting. It was probably my favorite part about going there.
